Reader: Irrational drivel deserves a response
Letter to the Editor

Some recent letters have suggested that atheists and Muslims should be thrown out of our country. It is hard to dignify such irrational drivel with a response but that is exactly the kind of ignorant, malicious extremism that our free American society needs to stand up to and loudly reject.

This week they want to eliminate atheists and Muslims. Next week it will be the Jews and Hindus, then the Catholics or Mormons, or whichever Christians they think aren’t praying quite the right way.

That is the insanity from which our Constitution was designed to protect us. Our Constitution will protect us from extremist Islam, as well as extremist Christianity.
