UA president to speak

University of Alaska President Mark Hamilton will be the featured speaker at the Kenai and Soldotna joint chambers of commerce luncheon at noon today at the Kenai Merit Inn. The cost is $13 dollars. For more information, call 283-7989.

Boy Scout leaders to meet

The Tustumena District of the Great Alaska Council, Boy Scouts of America will hold its monthly district committee meeting and round table Thursday. The district committee meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. and the round table will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association Building. The topics will be Freezeree, district awards banquet, and the Pinewood Derby.

RCAC to meet

Cook Inlet RCAC will hold its monthly prevention response operations and safety committee meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at 910 Highland Ave. It is open to the public.

Car seat event slated

There will be a car seat check up at the Kenai Fire Department on Feb. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call Jane B. Fellman at 714-4539.

Nonprofits to meet

The Nonprofit Organization executive director group will meet on the first Friday of each month at noon at Charlottes in Kenai. For more information, call Linda Swarner at 262-3111.

Community ping pong continues

Public ping pong is held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Redoubt Elementary School. For more information, call Ron at 262-7899.

Celebration of remembrance planned

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will host a Celebration of Remembrance as an opportunity from community members whom are processing grief after the death of a loved one to join together to remember those family members.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6 at Christ Lutheran Church Soldotna. Attendees may bring a photo of their family member to share. Music, fellowship, and remembering are planned and resources will be available. For more information, call 262-0453.
