Mackey Lake resident Randy E. Crawford died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in a plane crash in Cook Inlet. He was 52.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Kenai Central High School.

Mr. Crawford was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Ontario, Calif., to Gene and Carmen Crawford. He married Michelle Crawford on May 3, 1983, at Eureka Lodge.

He graduated from Apple Valley Senior High School in 1972. He attended one year of college before moving to Alaska in 1974.

Mr. Crawford joined the Alaska State Troopers in 1976 and retired from there in 2002 as colonel.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Alaska State Troopers, the FBI National Academy and the Alaska Pilots Association. After he retired from the troopers, he worked as a security consultant in Iraq.

Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Ruth Crawford and Mary “Momma Dolly” Perez.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle, of Soldotna; parents, Gene and Carmen Crawford of Soldotna; daughters, Stephanie Cowling and her husband, Eric Cowling of Anchorage and Jennifer King of Seattle; grandchildren, Ethan and Riley Cowling of Anchorage; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Roxanne Crawford of California; and sister, Sandy Crawford of Anchorage.

Arrangements were made by the family.
