Chilson, Mucha win Freezer Food Series race #5

Race No. 5 of the Freezer Food Series went to Soldotna’s Jordan Chilson on Wednesday night at Tsalteshi Trails.

Chilson won the 5.2-kilometer freestyle ski race under the lights at Tsalteshi over a 12-racer field, beating runner-up Joey Klecka to the line by 23 seconds with a time of 15 minutes, 42 seconds.

Kailey Mucha finished third overall as the top female racer, beating women’s runner-up Morgan Aldridge by 59 seconds.

The 10-week series meets every Wednesday evening at the Tsalteshi Trails at 5:30 p.m., with next week scheduled for a 6 p.m. trail run. Runners are encouraged to bring headlamps and ice spikes.
