2006: New options, more money
Fall, 2006 — it’s hard to believe! We enter this school year unlike any other in recent years as the legislature and borough have provided additional educational dollars to address the erosion of programs we have experienced.

2006-07 KPBSD board meetings
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month at the Borough Administration Building at 148 N. Binkley St. in Soldotna. There are rare exceptions, so check first to be sure.
Teaching math at home can be as easy as 1-2-3
Lessons in math can be found in everyday activities such as a trip to the grocery store, cooking dinner or planning a garden. The National Education Association of Alaska offers these suggestions for turning activities into fun math learning experiences.

Up-to-date immunizations are required for school
Prior to school entry, a child must be immunized as required by Alaska State Law against the following diseases:diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A and B and any other immunizations as required by law.

School closure, delayed start information
During the winter, there may be times in both the morning and afternoon when road conditions become too hazardous for buses to travel on certain roads. This information will be posted on the district’s Web site, www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us, and parents should listen to the radio for announcements.
Helping your child succeed in school
We all know that parents have an enormous influence over their child’s attitude toward school and their performance in the classroom. How student feels about important matters such as attendance, homework and discipline depends largely on the signals they get from home. Make sure your child knows how important their education is to you. Get involved in their school, and stay involved Here are a few tips to guide you:
